Tubapoke - “Lets protect them”
Project Summary.
The project addresses issues affecting young people’s access to SRH services which are: Inadequate knowledge and skills among young people and adolescents on SRH including Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) to enable them challenge SRH issues affecting them; Inadequate capacity among parents, teachers, traditional and religious leaders to challenge social norms that hinder young people and adolescents’ access to SRH services; and low uptake of Youth Friendly Health Services (YFHS) by young people and adolescents, resulting in increased cases of early unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, unsafe abortions, increased school-out rate among other issues.
The project will firstly, built the capacity of young people and adolescents (10-24) by increasing and improving their knowledge and skills which will enable them effectively face SRH challenges and make informed choices on their sexual health. Secondly, the project will actively engaged parents, teachers, opinion leaders, and the media as champions of change to address social norms that hinder young people and adolescents’ access to sexual and reproductive health services. Thirdly, the project created a platform where duty bearers and rights holders will interface on YFHS delivery bottlenecks that hinder young people and adolescents to access the services and take corrective action to address the challenges.
The project was being implemented in two T/As Wasambo and Mwirang’ombe targeting five GVHs Chikombwe, John, Malongo, Chimphinga, and Muzang’unya.
The project started on 1st December, 2023 ended on 30th May, 2025.
